The Secret Life of Pets is a pretty amazing movie by Universal Studios that was released July 8. It brings tons of laughter for the whole family! So to keep the excitement of this movie going, I partnered with Simple Solutions to bring you these easy pet bowls, that you’re gonna have a blast making and your pets will thank you.

What you need:

  • White paper bowls
  • Glue stick
  • DIY Pet Bowls worksheet (PRINT HERE)
  • Card stock white paper
  • Scissors
  • Variety of Pom Poms (we used white, brown, yellow)
  • Googly eyes (small and large)

Print the worksheet on card stock paper, have an adult help you carefully cut out each character. Glue the googly eyes on the characters one at a time. I applied the glue stick directly to the paper and then stuck on the eyes, it seemed to hold better that way.

Next I cut a small bit of the pom poms and applied some glue to the character and added the pom poms to give it a hair-like texture. We used the brown color for the dogs that had brown and white for the ones that had white, and so forth.

Take another card stock paper and cut two long rows to make a holder for the pets to attach to the bowls. Cut it in 3 inch sections until you have 6, or how ever much character bowls you’re making. Fold the sections in half, glueing one side to the pet and another to the bowl. I held the glue down for about 45 seconds that way it stuck better. (If you have access to a hot glue gun, you can use it for this step.)

Once you’re done adding the characters to the bowls you’re all set! If you want to paint the outside of the bowl you can do that too! Just be sure you paint only the outside and let it dry completely before serving your pet. Add some wet or dry food and your done!

These bowls are great especially for when you take your fur-friend on a road trip. Just carefully clean the bowls and stack them until future use. They’re paper so they are easy to reuse and make the traveling process so much easier! So when you travel with your pet, what exactly should I bring, besides these adorable pet bowls?
